A Medical Device Manufacturer was in the process of developing a new Type 1 Insulin-Dispensing Device. Having done their research, they knew the development of such a product would have a dramatic impact on the future growth and development of their business. Holding them back from their success was the development of a “user interface” – a means of ensuring a comfortable adhesion to the skin. Creating a strategic new solution to this barrier was essential in the further development of this medical device and would put them far ahead of their competition.
The OEM turned to Precision Gasket Company, and a close relationship quickly formed. Working with the OEM we began an extensive process of testing and experimentation. The end result was the development of a complex material consisting of multiple layers, essentially a new medical adhesive that would have a dramatic impact for its users. This medical adhesive, or artificial skin, required the development of a proprietary manufacturing process. The mutual efforts between our client and Precision Gasket Company were worth it, as this multi-layer medical device won a Medical Device Manufacturers award for easing the pain and burden felt by diabetic patients everywhere.
